JPG to PDF: turn photos into one PDF on your phone

Updated

JPG to PDF on your phone takes about as long as choosing the photos: Doc Scanner by Ginowl, for iPhone and Android, combines one or many JPGs into a single PDF, lets you put the pages in order and exports a clean, watermark-free file you can e-mail, upload or print.

No converter website, no upload, no sign-up and no ads. Picture-to-PDF conversion is part of the free plan, and every PDF you export gets an invisible, searchable text layer, so a photographed receipt or letter becomes a document you can search, not just a picture.

How to convert JPG to PDF on your phone

  1. Open Photos in Tools

Open Doc Scanner, go to the Tools tab and tap Photos. On Android you can also select pictures in your gallery app, tap Share and choose Doc Scanner.

  2. Select your pictures

Pick one photo or many at once. Every image becomes a page of the same document, in the order you selected them.

  3. Put the pages in order

Tap Reorder to drag pages into place, Delete page to drop a blurry shot, or Add page to bring in one more photo or a fresh scan.

  4. Clean up each page

Crop with the corner handles, rotate, and choose a filter: Magic Color for vivid, clean colour, Grayscale or B&W for text, Lighten for dark photos. Tap Apply to all pages to use it everywhere.

  5. Choose the PDF settings

Tap Share and pick PDF. Set the Quality (Low, Medium or High), the Page Size (Original, A4 or Letter) and, if you like, Select pages to export only some of them.

Photos to one PDF in a few taps

Most photo-to-PDF converter sites make you upload your pictures, wait, then download the result, often with a page cap, a watermark or an e-mail sign-up in the way. Doc Scanner does the whole job on your phone: the photos you pick never leave the device to be converted, and the PDF is ready the moment you tap Share.

It works for anything that ended up as a JPG in your camera roll: receipts you snapped in a hurry, pages of a contract a client sent as photos, whiteboard shots, school worksheets, a doctor's note, screenshots of a booking. Select them all in one go and you have one tidy PDF instead of a dozen loose images in an e-mail.

Still holding the paper? Skip the photo step and scan it straight into the document with the camera. Smart edge detection finds the page, corrects the perspective and captures it, which gives you a flatter, sharper page than a handheld snapshot. Here's how to scan multiple pages into one PDF.

Put the pages in order

A PDF only helps if the pages read in the right order. Doc Scanner keeps the order you selected, and Reorder lets you drag any page up or down afterwards. Took two shots of the same page? Delete the weaker one. Forgot the last page? Add page brings in another photo or a camera scan without starting over.

Already have PDFs on your phone? Import them with Import PDF in Tools, then select several documents in your library and tap Merge to combine photos and PDFs into one file.

Page size and quality

Photos come in every shape: tall phone screenshots, wide landscape shots, square crops. When you export, choose the page size the recipient expects:

Then pick the quality. Low or Medium keeps the file light for e-mail attachments and upload forms that limit file size; High gives the sharpest pages for printing or archiving. If an upload form still rejects the file, export only the pages it actually needs with Select pages, or drop to a lower quality.

No watermark, no ads, no sign-up

Plenty of free JPG-to-PDF apps stamp their logo on your pages or push an ad between every tap. Doc Scanner does neither, on the free plan or on Premium: what you export is your document and nothing else. You don't have to register either, because an account is created automatically and Apple or Google sign-in is optional.

That matters when the PDF goes to an employer, a landlord, a school or a government office. A clean page looks professional. More on that on the scanner app with no watermark page.

Searchable, not just pictures

A plain image-to-PDF converter wraps your photos in a PDF and stops there. Doc Scanner also runs AI-powered text recognition on your phone and adds an invisible text layer to every PDF it exports, even on the free plan. Open the file later and search for a name, an amount or an invoice number, and the PDF viewer finds it. Learn more about searchable PDFs.

Want the text itself? With Premium, the Extract Text screen lets you copy the recognised text or share it as TXT, and Convert turns the document into a Word (.docx) file with that text. Recognition works offline and nothing is uploaded; see image to text.

Built-in options vs Doc Scanner

Your phone can make a basic PDF from photos without any app. On iPhone, the Print screen in Photos can be turned into a PDF, and the Files app can create a PDF from selected images. On many Android phones, Print in the gallery offers Save as PDF. These work for a single quick file.

Doc Scanner is the better tool when the result has to look right: it combines many photos in the order you choose, cleans each page with filters and cropping, sets A4 or Letter, controls quality and file weight, adds a searchable text layer, and keeps the document in folders so you can find it again.

iPhone and Android differences

The steps are the same on both platforms. On iPhone (iOS 15.5 or later), start from Tools → Photos; your PDFs can also appear in Spotlight search by title and recognised text. On Android (7.0 or later), you can start from Tools too, or select pictures in your gallery, tap Share and pick Doc Scanner to send them straight in.
