How to scan multiple pages into one PDF on iPhone or Android

Updated

To scan multiple pages into one PDF, use a scanner app's multi-page mode, capture every page in a row, check the order and export once. In Doc Scanner by Ginowl, Batch mode does exactly that on iPhone and Android: up to 100 pages per scan, each one edge-detected, straightened and captured automatically, saved as a single searchable PDF.

It works on the free plan, with no watermark stamped on your pages and no ads between them. Afterwards you can reorder, delete or add pages, or merge separate scans into one document.

How to scan multiple pages into one PDF

  1. Open Batch mode

In Doc Scanner, open the Tools tab and tap Batch, or open the camera and swipe the mode bar to Batch.

  2. Capture page after page

Tap the shutter to start. Hold the phone over the first page; edge detection outlines it, corrects the perspective and captures it automatically. Turn to the next page and keep going, up to 100 pages in one scan.

  3. Finish the scan

When the last page is captured, finish the scan. Doc Scanner saves all the pages as one document, in the order you scanned them.

  4. Check the order

Open the document, tap ⋯ and choose Reorder. Drag pages by their handles into the right order and tap Done.

  5. Fix individual pages

Remove a blurry or duplicate page with ⋯ → Delete page, adjust corners with Crop, and use Edit to pick a filter, then Apply to all pages for a consistent look.

  6. Share it as one PDF

Tap the share icon, choose PDF, keep all pages selected (or pick only the ones you need), set the quality and page size, and tap Share or Print.

Scan many pages into one PDF in 4 steps

Whatever phone you have, a multi-page scan follows the same four steps: capture every page in one session, fix the order, clean up the pages, export a single file. The mistake most people make is scanning each page separately and ending up with five loose PDFs or a camera roll full of photos. Recipients want one file, in order, that opens on any computer.

Doc Scanner's Batch mode is built for stacks: contracts, lease agreements, tax returns, school packets, medical forms, multi-page invoices and chapters of a book. Auto-capture means you don't tap the shutter for every page. Turn the page, hold the phone steady, and the next capture happens on its own. The regular Document mode lets you keep adding pages too, so you never have to start over just because the document turned out longer than you thought.

Every page gets the same treatment as a single scan: edges found, perspective straightened, and an invisible text layer added when you export, so the finished PDF is searchable on the free plan.

On iPhone

Doc Scanner runs on iPhone with iOS 15.5 or later. Open Tools → Batch, scan the stack, then tap the share icon to send one PDF. Your documents also appear in Spotlight search, so you can find a contract later by typing a word from it.

If you'd rather use what's built in, Apple's Notes app can do multi-page scans: in a note, tap the attachments button, then Scan Documents, and keep scanning additional pages before you save. The result is saved as a PDF inside the note. The Files app offers Scan Documents under its More button and saves the PDF to a location you choose.

Doc Scanner takes over when you want more control at the end: choose Low, Medium or High quality, pick Original, A4 or Letter page size, and export only the pages you need, all from one Share screen. It's the same app, with the same buttons, if you ever switch to Android. Full walkthrough: how to scan documents on iPhone.

On Android

Doc Scanner runs on Android 7.0 or later. Automatic edge detection uses the document scanner in Google Play services, so capturing a stack feels quick and familiar. Open Tools → Batch, capture page after page, finish the scan, and your pages land in one document.

Google Drive has a built-in scanner too: tap its camera button, scan a page, then tap Add to scan another page before saving the file as a PDF to your Google Drive. That's handy if your files already live in Drive.

Doc Scanner keeps your scans in the app on your phone without asking you to sign in, and gives you the same export controls as on iPhone: PDF or JPG, quality, page size and page selection. On Samsung, Pixel, Motorola or any other Android phone, the steps are identical. Full walkthrough: how to scan documents on Android.

Fix the order and remove extra pages

Pages get scanned out of order all the time: a sheet sticks to the one above, you flip the stack the wrong way, or a page slips under the pile. You don't need to rescan. Doc Scanner lets you fix it in place:

Need only part of the document? You don't have to delete anything. On the Share screen, tap Select pages and export just the pages a recipient asked for.

Add pages later or merge documents

Forgot the signature page, or got a second letter that belongs with the first? Open the document, tap ⋯ → Add page, then choose Scan to capture new pages with the camera or Import from Photos to add pictures you already took. New pages join the same PDF, and Reorder puts them where they belong.

Already have two or more separate scans? On the Files tab, tap Select, tick the documents and tap Merge. Doc Scanner combines them into one merged document that you can rename, reorder and share as a single PDF.

You can also bring existing files into the mix: import photos in one multi-select step with Photos, or open a PDF with Import PDF, then merge it with your new scan. Turning a set of photos into one file? See JPG to PDF.

A multi-page scanner app that stays free of ads and watermarks

A long document is exactly where a scanner app should stay out of the way. Doc Scanner has no ads, no watermarks and no sign-up, and the free plan covers what a multi-page job needs: scanning with auto edges, filters, crop and rotate, reordering, merging, PDF and JPG export, a searchable text layer, free signatures, print and share.

Premium adds text extraction to copy or export the words from your pages, Word and TXT files, password-protected PDFs and ID card mode.
