Doc Scanner by Ginowl is a document scanner app for iPhone and Android, made by an independent app developer based in Türkiye. It turns paper into clean, searchable PDFs with the phone you already carry, and it does the scanning, image processing and text recognition on that phone.

What Doc Scanner does
- Scans single pages and multi-page documents into one PDF, up to 100 pages per scan, with automatic edge detection, perspective correction and auto-capture.
- Puts the front and back of an ID card on one A4-style page (ID card mode, Premium).
- Adds an invisible text layer to exported PDFs so they're searchable, even on the free plan.
- Recognizes text on the device with AI-powered OCR (Google ML Kit), offline. Copying and exporting that text is part of Premium.
- Signs documents with a signature you draw once and reuse, for free.
- Exports to PDF, JPG, TXT, Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx), with TXT and Word on Premium. Converts photos (JPG to PDF) and prints directly.
- Protects PDFs with a password and AES-256 encryption (Premium).
- Keeps scans in folders, merges documents and searches inside recognized text. On iPhone, documents also appear in Spotlight search.
Who makes Doc Scanner
Doc Scanner is designed, built and supported by Ginowl, an independent app developer based in Türkiye. Google Play lists Ginowl as the developer; on the App Store, the seller line shows the individual developer account behind Ginowl. Version 1.0 arrived on the App Store in August 2026, and every update ships through the App Store and Google Play.
How Doc Scanner works
On iPhone and Android, the camera scanner finds the page edges, corrects the perspective and captures automatically; on Android, it uses Google's ML Kit document scanner from Google Play services. Text recognition uses Google ML Kit on the device, so it works offline and nothing is uploaded for recognition. PDFs, images and other exports are created on the phone, and you share them through the system share sheet or print them.
A few services work in the background: Google Firebase handles the automatic account, the optional Apple or Google sign-in, crash reports and anonymized usage statistics. RevenueCat manages Premium subscriptions, and the App Store or Google Play handles billing, so Doc Scanner never sees your payment card details. The Privacy Policy lists each service and what it receives.
Privacy by design
Scanning, image processing and text recognition happen on your phone, and nothing is uploaded for text recognition. You don't need to sign up: the app creates an account automatically, and signing in with Apple or Google is optional. There are no ads. Sensitive PDFs can be locked with a password and AES-256 encryption (Premium).

Languages
The interface is available in 21 languages: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese, in light and dark mode. Scanning, PDFs, signatures and ID card mode work in every one of them. Text recognition covers Latin-alphabet languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Turkish.
