Aadhaar card front and back on one page, from your phone

Updated

Need your Aadhar card front and back in one page? Doc Scanner's ID Card mode (Premium) photographs the front, then the back, and places both sides on a single A4-style page that you save as a PDF or JPG, with no website merger and no cutting and pasting photos, right on your iPhone or Android phone.

Doc Scanner by Ginowl is free to download and has a free plan for scanning and exporting PDFs; ID Card mode is part of Premium. Your card is processed on your phone, so you don't have to upload your Aadhaar to a website just to put two photos on one page.

Aadhaar card front and back in one page: step by step

  1. Open ID Card mode

Open the Tools tab and tap ID Card (Premium). In the camera, tap Both Sides so the app asks for the front and then the back.

  2. Scan the front

When the app says Scan the FRONT of the card, lay the card on a plain, dark surface, hold the phone parallel to it, fill most of the frame with the card and take the photo. ID Card mode uses the regular camera, so line the card up yourself.

  3. Scan the back

When you see Now scan the BACK of the card, flip the card in the same spot and take the second photo. Doc Scanner puts both sides on one A4-style page.

  4. Check the page

Zoom in to check that the name, number and photo are sharp. Use Crop and rotate if needed, and apply Magic Color for a bright colour copy or Grayscale for a printer-friendly one.

  5. Share as PDF or JPG

Tap Share, choose PDF or JPG, set Quality and Page Size, then upload the file to your form, send it, or print it.

Why one page beats two photos

Banks, employers, colleges, telecom shops and landlords keep asking for "Aadhaar both sides" as one file. Two separate photos don't fit a single upload box, and many people end up on a website that merges images, which means sending their Aadhaar to someone else's server.

Doc Scanner does the merge on your phone. ID Card mode takes the front and the back and lays them out on a single A4-style page with a white background, the same way a photocopy shop would. The result prints cleanly on A4 and reads well on screen. The same mode handles any two-sided card; see scanning an ID card for the general guide.

Aadhar card both side scan: PVC card or paper Aadhaar

PVC Aadhaar card

The plastic card is glossy, so glare is the main enemy:

Paper Aadhaar letter

If you have the full printed letter, the front and back panels of the card-sized part are usually printed side by side on the same side of the sheet. In that case you don't need ID Card mode at all: scan the whole sheet, or just that strip, in Document mode on the free plan, and Doc Scanner detects the edges and straightens the page automatically. If you've cut out the card-sized part and laminated it as a two-sided card, treat it like a PVC card and use ID Card mode.

Upload Aadhaar both sides to a form

Most upload forms say one of three things, and Doc Scanner covers each one:

Most portals cap the file size. If your upload is rejected as too large, share the page again with Quality set to Medium or Low; you don't have to rescan. Our guide on how to scan a document and upload it covers file types and sizes in more detail.

PDF or JPG, and quality options

Every scan can be shared in either format, as many times as you need. Use the table below to pick the right combination. If you need a standard sheet size for other images too, see image to PDF in A4 size.

Keep your Aadhaar copy private

An Aadhaar copy carries your name, photo, date of birth, address and number, so treat it like cash:

Frequently asked questions

How do I scan Aadhaar card front and back in one page?

In Doc Scanner open Tools, tap ID Card (Premium) and choose Both Sides. Photograph the front, flip the card, photograph the back, and the app places both sides on one A4-style page. Then tap Share and save it as a PDF or JPG.

Aadhar card dono side scan kaise kare?

Doc Scanner kholiye, Tools mein ID Card (Premium) par tap kijiye aur Both Sides chuniye. Pehle front ki photo lijiye, phir card palat kar back ki photo lijiye; dono side ek hi page par aa jaati hain. Phir Share se PDF ya JPG save kijiye. In short: ID Card mode, Both Sides, front, back, Share.

Is ID card mode free?

No, ID card mode is part of Premium. Doc Scanner is free to download and has a free plan for scanning, signing and exporting PDFs; Premium unlocks text extraction, ID card mode, password-protected PDFs and more. On the free plan you can still scan each side as a separate page in Document mode.

Can I upload the PDF to a government portal?

Yes. Doc Scanner exports standard PDF and JPG files, which is what upload forms expect. Check the format and size limit the portal states; if the file is too large, share it again with Quality set to Medium or Low.

Does it work on Android phones and iPhone?

Yes. Doc Scanner runs on Android 7.0 or later and on iPhone with iOS 15.5 or later, with the same ID Card mode on both.

Is my Aadhaar uploaded anywhere when I scan it?

Scanning and image processing happen on your phone, so the card isn't sent to a website to be merged. The file leaves your phone only when you tap Share and choose where to send it.
